graduating class of 1956 from Decatur High School, Decatur, Alabama.
You may view photos and articles taken from the 1956
edition of Golden Memories, the school yearbook. There
is also information about some of the graduates, a listing of
those who are deceased and coverage of the fifty-year class reunion
held August 12, 2006, at the Holiday Inn in Decatur.

The following was submitted by Frank Marlowe: While metal detecting on Bank Street in front of the old Post Office around 1978 to 1982, I found a 1956 Decatur High School class ring, probably a ladies ring (quite small). There are no initials on the ring. If you lost yours before 1983 I might have it. You can contact Frank Marlowe @ 256-303-2214.

George Cassimus, son of Patsy Byars and George Cassimus underwent surgery last week for a brain tumor. During or immediately after surgery, he had a stroke. He is now in a rehabilitation center. We ask our classmates to pray for him and his children, and for Patsy and George and family. If anyone has more definitive or updated information on anything we can do to help them, please contact Janet Bentley (jbentkey@aol.com) or Rupert Billions (rlbillions@embarqmail.com). We will share this information via the website (www.Decatur56.org) or the DHS Facebook page. To our knowledge, Patsy and George do not have or use a computer, so anyone who knows other classmates without computer access, please share this prayer request with them.

I just read on Janet Nungester Bentleys posting on our Facebook page tha Irene Kimbrough Henderson had passed away. Bill Stone will send am appropriate memorial from the class treasury. An obituary was published in the Decatur Daily on Februsry 24th.

Three of our classmates have recently lost their husbands. They are Sue Faulkner Bodley (Bill J. Bodley); Billie Glynn Garnett Hudson (Willis Hudson); and Edna Ruth Hudson Gaston (Ben Gaston).
